It is quite peaceful here today. There is a gentle breeze and the air smells like basil and thyme. A lot of my herbs have given me an abundant harvest. I can't wait to finish up the harvest tomorrow. Polly will be 3 tomorrow and it is Lammas so I will make sure we celebrate both like we have done since we got her at 2 months old. I am making meatloaf seasoned with fresh herbs and bits of vegetbles from the garden, smashed garlic rosemary potatoes, pineapple sage iced tea and for dessert, lavender cookies and blackberry ice cream. The cookies and meatloaf will be hard to do since our oven is broken and we only have a small toaster oven. I am making individual meatloaves and baking 4 cookies at a time. I will get those done tonight and reheat the meatloaf at tomorrow's dinner time. Most of the ingredients are from our garden or the farmers market. I have to dream up a birthday menu for Delilah who turns 2 on the 15th. She is a more finicky eater than Polly. I will probably end up cooking chicken and rice for her.
Ryan gets out of work at 4 from now on. Was 5 before the registry moved from Boston to here in Quincy a couple miles away. He walks to work but hopefully we will have a car soon so he can drive himself to work. Our Wendy's finally has a vanilla frosty! I liked the chocolate one but would prefer vanilla. Ryan is thrilled because he hates chocolate! Since Wendy's is near his work, he can treat himself once in a while. Tomorrow's dinner sounds so good I want it now! Tonight is mac n cheese and hot dogs......so boring. At least we have some food in the house!
